Photos from the 2008 Rally held at the Atwell Wilson Car Museum in Calne, Wiltshire.
Organised by Jeff Ellis, and held over the weekend of 4 - 7 September with help from the Bug Club.
This rally will forever remembered as "The Aquatic National"
Things started off well on the Thursday, with the weather cool but dry, Friday however saw rain, rain and yet more rain.
Saturday began dry, and as the road runs set out, things did begin to look up for a while. Unfortunately, as the afternoon drew on,
the rain returned with renewed and sustained vigor. Across the UK flooding caused several roads to be closed and various motoring
events to be cancelled - but not the stalwart enthusiasts at the NMCR!
Thankfully, it was dry on Sunday. As the rally field was comprehensively waterlogged,
a great deal of time and effort was spent arranging the cars, tightly clustered on the gravel and on the high ground around the museum buildings.
Overall, an impressive number of enthusiasts turned up with their cars, from as far afield as Belgium and Holland,
and enjoyed the facilities and activities on site at the museum, and the road runs to a private motorcycle collection and to Longleat.
The Bug Club had gone all out to provide impressive facilities, with a huge marquee, seriously-posh loos,
and simply excellent on-site catering. Despite a little bit of mud and a touch of damp, and various situations that would have tested
the patience of a saint, most thought the effort worthwhile and despite everything, 2008 was a very enjoyable event.
